When must a domestic helper’s wages be paid?

We do our best to keep this updated as the rules change. Please cross-check with the relevant authority for the very latest details.

As of 30 October 2026, a domestic helper’s wages should be paid in full according to the employment contract, as soon as practicable and no later than seven days after the wage period ends. Wages become due at the end of that period.

If an employer does not pay within seven days after wages become due, interest is payable on the outstanding amount. The deadline runs from the wage period’s end, not a later payment date chosen by the employer.

For late payment or underpayment, seek help from the Labour Department through the assistance channels on its official Foreign Domestic Helpers’ Corner page.
