Bangladeshi domestic helpers
Bangladeshi helpers are uncommon in Hong Kong. Learn about BMET clearance, what to check in a profile, and the wage rules that apply to every helper.
Bangladeshi domestic helpers are uncommon in Hong Kong, and their profiles appear on HelperDoc only occasionally. Candidates usually speak Bengali as their first language; English and Cantonese levels vary, so a video call is the most reliable way to judge whether everyday communication will work for your family. Many candidates have experience with housework and cooking, and some with childcare.
Bangladesh requires workers going abroad to obtain emigration clearance from its Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET), usually through a licensed recruiting agency, and its rules for women taking domestic work abroad have changed over time. Our licensed Hong Kong office checks what currently applies before you plan around a Bangladeshi candidate, so you are not left waiting on documents that cannot be issued.
Should you go ahead, the helper is protected by Hong Kong law exactly as any other foreign domestic helper: the Standard Employment Contract (ID 407), the Minimum Allowable Wage of HK$5,220 a month for contracts signed on or after 3 October 2026, free food or a food allowance of at least HK$1,236, a weekly rest day and statutory holidays. You can browse all reviewed helper profiles on HelperDoc free and filter them by nationality, contract status and available-from date.
